The core strength of AMRA is its highly experienced and dedicated committed professional artists.
The inspiration and guiding force is Angie Amra Anderson BA (hons).
As a dancer, choreographer, Singer, Actress and percussionist, she has acquired a vast performing experience and is one of the UK's top African arts practitioners.
She co-founded the award-winning Ekome National Dance Company, England's pioneer African dance group, which took England and Europe by storm for over a decade. She has been an invited guest/teacher/performer in Europe, Scandinavia, Jamaica, Haiti, Ghana and Nigeria and is known to thousands of students as a very charismatic teacher and has created a stimulating way of communicating this rich and diverse artform.
Her research in African, Caribbean and especially African-Cuban artforms left a tremendous emotional and aesthetic experience. As a principal dancer with numerous dance companies, her work gained a new strength and authority from it. Her TV and Film appearances includes The South Bank Show, Highway, A Sailor's Return, Rwendo - The Journey, Bacchanal, Ebony, Only Fools & Horses and for BBC Education `Music Makers' among others.
Her innumerable records of performances has been with artistes such as Peter Gabriel at WOMAD (World Of Music & Dance), Fela Kuti, Osibisa and the infamous Zairean guitarist Franco.
Her love for African Play Production Styles will continue to emphasise the strength, dignity, pride and virtuosity inherent in the various forms of African arts.

AMRA coordinates groups and individuals for performances, workshops, residencies, conferences, lectures and seminars.
In 2015, Angie Amra Anderson – ‘the Heartist’ launched her new spiritual transformative work, ‘Amra’s Affirmation Drumming & Dance’, a combination of positive affirmations, chanting, movement and drumming, a holistic approach that to date has been a rewarding experience for all.
AMRA was also a nominee for 2015 Best Promoter of Culture Award from the True Heritage Awards and in April 2016 from the Inspirational Awards UK, she will be this year’s recipient of Inspirational Woman Award for 2016.
